Outreach

University Christian’s Outreach ministry exists to encourage and engage our church community in demonstrating the love of God in Jesus Christ by our actions in ways that offer help, hope and reconciliation to individuals and families within and beyond our community.

We commit ourselves to building caring partnerships and fostering mutual ministries with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), other faith-based communities, and human services organizations serving those in need.

Christmas Angels Wrap Night

Sunday, December 11| 5 – 6pm

All ages are welcome and encouraged to help assemble the gift bags! Sign up  to be part of our Wrap Night Crew and help with a specific role like item distribution, check-in, deliveries, etc., or join us in Walker Hall at 5pm for instructions before we head up to the 2nd floor to fill gift bags. Childcare will be available for those ages 5 and under.

Christmas Angels is a long standing UCC outreach ministry. We are grateful for your contributions that make this ministry possible year after year. Through monetary gifts provided by our UCC family, we have collectively benefited hundreds of children in our community each year. Donations of all amounts make an impact and are appreciated. Approximately $100.00 provides a gift bag that gives each child a new coat, sweatshirt, jeans, shoes, socks, underwear, a toy, a book and a Bible.

Christmas Eve Special Offering

When we live out our core value of generosity, we respond to God’s abundance with gratitude as we invest in God’s calling for our community. For that reason, we will once again gift 100% of our Christmas Eve offering to a local community partner. This year, University Christian Church will share these gifts with the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition (TCHC).  Since 1989 TCHC has been leading the community solution to end homelessness in greater Tarrant and Parker counties by working with over 40 partner agencies towards a shared vision of a vibrant community where everyone has a place to call home.

The Homeless Coalition serves as a collaborative force, providing partner agencies with the guidance and resources to ensure that interventions are effective and efficient for people in need in our community. Our gifts will not only impact TCHC, they will touch all of the partner organizations and programs they serve.

You can help transform the lives of our neighbors experiencing homelessness by making a gift this Christmas. Simply share your gifts at one of our in-person services on Christmas Eve, or on our website by selecting the “Christmas Eve Offering” fund. Checks can also be sent to the church and designated “Christmas Eve Offering.”

Room In The Inn

Volunteer Training | Sunday, November 20
2-3:30pm | Room 203

Jesus said, “I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you welcomed me….”

During the hottest and coldest months of the year, Room in the Inn churches across the country welcome men and women experiencing homelessness into their buildings for a delicious dinner, a peaceful night’s sleep, and a hearty breakfast the next morning. We are proud to be part of this hospitality ministry network of 15+ congregations in Fort Worth that provides respite and community to our neighbors without shelter.

There are many different volunteer roles needed to make this ministry possible: set-up, clean-up, drivers, dinner hosts, kitchen crew, overnight innkeepers, and more. Setting up for our guests and serving dinner is a great way for families to serve together; morning drivers that pick up guests from the church at 7:15 am can make it to the office by the time work starts. Join us for our volunteer training this Sunday, November 20 at 2 pm in Room 203 to serve with this ministry or contact [email protected] to learn more.
