University Christian’s Outreach ministry exists to encourage and engage our church community in demonstrating the love of God in Jesus Christ by our actions in ways that offer help, hope and reconciliation to individuals and families within and beyond our community.

We commit ourselves to building caring partnerships and fostering mutual ministries with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), other faith-based communities, and human services organizations serving those in need.

Volunteer with Fortress Birthday Parties!

Our partners at Fortress Youth Development Center have asked us to help throw monthly birthday parties for their students. For many students, this is their only birthday celebration. You can help share God’s joy and love by giving 2 hours of your time (3:30-5:30pm). Volunteers are needed to help set-up for the parties, pass out treats, help create a celebratory atmosphere, and clean-up after the festivities.

Location: Fortress Youth Development Center, 1007 E Terrell Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Email Mary Nell Andrus with any questions.

Tentative summer dates: June 16, July 14, August 18

Room In The Inn

Twenty-two nights a year, ten different guests spend the night and enjoy dinner and breakfast. UCC volunteers not only give but also receive inspiration, compassion, and fellowship. Room in the Inn is about ordinary people loving their neighbors in extraordinary ways—welcoming and accepting people exactly as they are is the greatest gift any of us can give.

UCC, in partnership with the DRC (formerly known as the Day Resource Center), and other local faith communities, extend God’s extravagant hospitality by offering homeless guests our support and acceptance. Each week, during the open times of the program, guests are picked up on a Wednesday evening and arrive at UCC. Our guests share an evening meal and fellowship before they settle in for a restful night’s sleep. Breakfast is served in the morning and guests are taken back to DRC with a sack lunch for the next day.

Sack Lunch Ministry

In 2020-2021, we have made and delivered 20,000 sack lunches and bottles of water to our partners at the Presbyterian Night Shelter on Friday mornings. Thank you, for answering the call to give and serve! Contact Rev. Jessica Vacketta for more information on helping with this ministry.

Academy 4 Firdays

Alice Contreras Elementary School

This fall, we will begin a new partnership with Alice Contreras Elementary School and Academy 4- and we need your help! Academy 4 takes place one Friday afternoon a month during the school year. All fourth-grade students, mentors, and volunteers gather on the school campus during, on the same afternoon,  for a fun-filled time of leadership training and relationship building.
