University Christian’s Outreach ministry exists to encourage and engage our church community in demonstrating the love of God in Jesus Christ by our actions in ways that offer help, hope and reconciliation to individuals and families within and beyond our community.

We commit ourselves to building caring partnerships and fostering mutual ministries with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), other faith-based communities, and human services organizations serving those in need.

Box-It Distribution Day (BIDD)

Thursday, August 11 | 7am-12pm and 2pm-5pm | Outside at UCC’s Children’s Closet

Join us for a fun day of packing boxes with school uniforms and distributing them to FWISD School Counselors. This UCC volunteer opportunity will ensure a smooth start to the school year for FWISD counselors who facilitate the distribution of school uniforms (donated by the Children’s Closet) to vulnerable elementary students in the district.
Volunteers will pack “Starter Kits,” that include uniform shirts and pants, for 40 schools. Other volunteers will load the boxes into counselors’ cars as they drive through the church parking lot later in the day. The packing and loading work will be strenuous and the weather is likely to be hot.

This fall we’ll be back at Alice Contreras Elementary School for the Academy 4 Mentorship program! Academy 4 takes place one Friday afternoon a month during the school year. All fourth-grade students, mentors, and volunteers gather on the school campus for a fun-filled time of leadership training and relationship building.

Room In The Inn

Twenty-two nights a year, ten different guests spend the night and enjoy dinner and breakfast. UCC volunteers not only give but also receive inspiration, compassion, and fellowship. Room in the Inn is about ordinary people loving their neighbors in extraordinary ways—welcoming and accepting people exactly as they are is the greatest gift any of us can give.

UCC, in partnership with True Worth Place and other local faith communities, extend God’s extravagant hospitality by offering homeless guests our support and acceptance. Each week, during the open times of the program, guests are picked up on a Wednesday evening and arrive at UCC. Our guests share an evening meal and fellowship before they settle in for a restful night’s sleep. Breakfast is served in the morning and guests are taken back to True Worth Place the next day.
