Eric Mullins

Assistant Choirmaster & Handbell Assistant

Eric Mullins was most recently Artistic Director/Conductor of the Fort Worth Choral Society, a symphonic chorus in Fort Worth, Texas. As conductor, the chorus performed as the chorus for Andrea Bocelli’s concert in Dallas, and performed many concerts featuring choral masterworks that span the musical spectrum from early music to modern.

Highlights include a concert of French Works that featured Messe solennelle en Ut dièze Mineur with dual organs; Durufle’s Requiem with guest choirs from the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy and the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts, accompanied by acclaimed organist Dr. Bradley Hunter Welch; and Handel’s complete Messiah.

Previously, Mr. Mullins served for over six years as Assistant Choirmaster and Director of Handbell Choirs at University Christian Church of Fort Worth, Texas, where he conducted the Ad Deum (adult) Handbell Choir and the UCC Handbell Ringers and conducted the Chancel Choir once per month. For the better part of three of those years, Eric served as Interim Choirmaster responsible for all aspects of the choral program including weekly choral rehearsals, worship leadership and special choral masterwork concerts. Prior to his work at UCC, Eric served as Director of the Chapel Choir and Handbells at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. He has also served as the Director of Adult Handbells at the First United Methodist Church of Hurst, Texas and as music associate at Westcliff United Methodist Church in Fort Worth where he conducted the Youth Choir and Handbells.

Under his leadership, the UCC Handbell Ringers completed two fourteen-day concert tours of the United Kingdom, which included concerts and worship services at St. Mary the Virgin Church in Bath, Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford, The Collegiate Church of St. Mary in Warwick, Union Chapel – London, York Minster, Coventry Cathedral, Gloucester Cathedral and Canterbury Cathedral. Additionally, choirs and handbells under his direction have performed throughout the United States including New York City, Washington D.C., Boston, Philadelphia, Montana, Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, New Mexico, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Hawaii, Florida and North and South Carolina.

In addition to his choral work, Mr. Mullins is Director of Bands at Timberview High School in Mansfield. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied instrumental conducting with Ray C. Lichtenwalter, Director of Bands Emeritus at UTA; Ron Spigelman, Musical Director of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta and former Interim Director of Orchestral Studies at UTA. He studied choral conducting with Dr. Gary Ebensberger, retired Department Chair and Director of Choral Studies at UTA. Eric attributes his love for choral music and church music from his mentor, the late Thomas M. Stoker, who has supported him and nurtured his musical and spiritual gifts.

Mr. Mullins was the 2013-14 Bayard H. Friedman Chair for Teaching Excellence in the Performing Arts, has been listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers & Educators and is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, The National Association for Music Education and Chorus America.
