Church and the Arts

Church and the Arts

Church and the Arts promotes artistic awareness, education and appreciation.

Throughout the calendar year, we sponsor and administer many cultural activities, promote an in-house art exhibition, and conduct docent tours of the church building and offer organ demonstrations.

We welcome everyone to enjoy our permanent art exhibition at UCC, featuring images and interpretations of Christ from all eras in the history of Christianity and from various cultures. The Gallery is found on the second floor of the church, on the north side of the Sanctuary. Please feel free to take a printed exhibition catalog, “Images of Jesus the Christ in Art,” located throughout the Gallery to give you more information to fully appreciate the art.

Docent tours, just reorganized by CATA, which include assistance in the Gallery and tours on the symbolism in the stained glass and Chancel Cross, are available for children and adults and Sunday School classes by contacting the church office. A full color booklet on our stained glass symbolism and other material of interest on art at UCC is also available. Understanding the rich symbolism in our Sanctuary, and other art elsewhere on our property assists in the enhancement of worship, Bible study, and appreciation for our history as Christians.
