The Vinery

At the start of 2024, UCC started a two-year program with an organization called The Vinery. This national non-profit exists to help University Churches cultivate congregational thriving and ministry with their university neighbors for the sake of the common good in the name of Jesus. Through UCC’s time in this program, our congregation will engage in deep listening & purposeful design so that we are better equipped to serve our university neighbors at TCU for the next 15, 50, & 150 years.

UCC applied, interviewed, and was accepted into this program along with 4 other churches in The Vinery’s third cohort. These churches are located across the country, and we were specifically paired with our partner church, First Church Berkeley in Berkeley California. The Vinery is designed to guide congregations in discerning their unique calling to do University Ministry serving students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, donors, families, & university community partners.

During our church’s time in the program, we anticipate opportunities for many in our congregation & community to join in the exciting journey of learning more about UCC’s stories from the past, our present abilities to serve the TCU community, and how we might plan for continued partnerships as we strive to live into our University Church identity. UCC’s Vinery Lead Team consists of Rev. Alison Fitzgerald, Rev. Austin Schmidt, Taylor Howell, a member of UCC’s Board of Stewards, and Brooks Davenport, a TCU college student & church member.
