Advent 22

The World Is About To Turn

Advent 2022

There is a refrain in the beloved Advent hymn, The Canticle of the Turning, that reminds us “the world is about to turn.” This sacred season reminds us that the work of God is always unfolding – in us and through us.
Our lives, our histories, our actions are interconnected and woven together. In the midst of a time in which there is so much that is designed to divide us, what does it look like to practice belonging to one another?

Abundant Simplicity: A Formation Series for Advent

Formation is a weekly conversation for followers of Jesus hosted by Kera Watts, Shannon Moore and Renee Hoke. For the busy season of Advent, our hosts have selected Jan Johnson’s book Abundant Simplicity: Discovering the Unhurried Rhythms of Grace. Johnson’s book encourages readers to practice simplicity—not a spiritual discipline but a way of being. We practice simplicity when we intentionally arrange our life around God—what God is doing in us and in this world—and let the rest drop away.  Simplicity of speech, frugality, spaciousness of time, holy leisure, simplicity of appearance and technology.  Join us for weekly conversations as we explore the gifts of simplicity during the holy season of Advent

Christmas Angels Wrap Night

Still needs your support!

Thank you for everyone who helped participate with Christmas Angels Wrap night! Your assistance is helping bringing much needed joy to children in need.

Christmas Angels is a long standing UCC outreach ministry. We are grateful for your contributions that make this ministry possible year after year. Through monetary gifts provided by our UCC family, we have collectively benefited hundreds of children in our community each year. Donations of all amounts make an impact and are appreciated. Approximately $100.00 provides a gift bag that gives each child a new coat, sweatshirt, jeans, shoes, socks, underwear, a toy, a book and a Bible.

Christmas Eve Special Offering

When we live out our core value of generosity, we respond to God’s abundance with gratitude as we invest in God’s calling for our community. For that reason, we will once again gift 100% of our Christmas Eve offering to a local community partner. This year, University Christian Church will share these gifts with the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition (TCHC).  Since 1989 TCHC has been leading the community solution to end homelessness in greater Tarrant and Parker counties by working with over 40 partner agencies towards a shared vision of a vibrant community where everyone has a place to call home.

The Homeless Coalition serves as a collaborative force, providing partner agencies with the guidance and resources to ensure that interventions are effective and efficient for people in need in our community. Our gifts will not only impact TCHC, they will touch all of the partner organizations and programs they serve.

You can help transform the lives of our neighbors experiencing homelessness by making a gift this Christmas. Simply share your gifts at one of our in-person services on Christmas Eve, or on our website by selecting the “Christmas Eve Offering” fund. Checks can also be sent to the church and designated “Christmas Eve Offering.”

Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival

Performances January 7th & 8th, 2023 at 3:00 pm & 5:00 pm

The story of the Boar’s Head, the legend of the Yule Log, the story of King Wenceslas, the angelic message to the shepherds, the journey and gifts of the Magi, and more are woven together and lead us to the adoration of the Christ Child.

Each year, more than 300 people, including characters of all social statures, the UCC Chancel and Handbell Choirs, the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra, along with everyone behind the scenes taking care of props costumes, makeup, the stage, and cleanup come together to make this festival possible.
