About the Music Ministry:

Worship of the Almighty God is the highest priority for University Christian Church, and worship through music is an important avenue to worship. Indeed, music is a window through which we can better see the glory of God. Since its founding in 1873, University Christian Church has given the music ministry an integral, important part in the life of the church. Our mission is to ensure that this rich heritage will continue.

The music program is never static. New offerings, often enriching opportunities for adults and children, are constantly being added. In October of 2009, the Chancel Choir toured historic Disciples of Christ churches in Nova Scotia, Canada. Summer of 2007, the Chancel Choir experienced a Concert Tour of Europe visiting the cities of Salzburg, Vienna, Prague and Budapest. The Chancel Choir visited New York City six times to sing a holiday concert with the New York Pops Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. The Chancel Choir has often participated in various concerts throughout the year with the Fort Worth-TCU Symphonic Choir. They gave a spring-break concert tour of Disciples of Christ churches in North Carolina in 2013.

The music program offers three choral groups for persons from early elementary age through adults. Preschool children participate in musical experiences each Sunday during their morning Sunday school classes. UCC is especially proud of a long tradition of incorporating TCU music majors into our Chancel Choir program. This cooperation between the TCU Music Department and UCC adds immense excellence to our Sunday morning choral sound.

Three handbell ensembles exist for persons in middle school through adult age. Tours and concerts are undertaken by many of the choral and handbell choirs as avenues for outreach through music. The UCC Ringers, made up of high-schoolers, recently toured England.
