On Thursday, June 21, UCC will host a free showing of "The Father and the Bear". The film focuses on a father's struggle with a dementia diagnosis and his enduring devotion to perform at his beloved summer theatre on last time before the disease escalates. The film's director, John Putch, was inspired to make the movie after his mother and actress, Jean Stapleton, died with dementia. Stapleton was best known in her role as Edith Bunker on the TV sitcom All in the Family.
This event is part of The Longest Day, sponsored by The Alzheimer's Association as part of their mission to raise awareness for Alzheimer's care, support and research. The movie and refreshments are complimentary but space is limited and reservations are required.
