Rev. Cyndy W. Twedell
Minister of Nurture
Ministry Leader for:
Cyndy counts it as a blessing to have the opportunity to share in, with folks at UCC, the sacred moments of life’s joys and sorrows. She is grateful to be invited in, to the varied and wonderful life stories of others, while listening for the connections within the larger story of our faith. She might be found knitting with the Prayer Shawl Ministry, facilitating a book conversation with the WILD Women Book Club, visiting people in care facilities or leading a Mission Pilgrimage group in Puerto Rico. She’s always ready to sit down for a cup of tea and conversation. Cyndy’s sense of hospitality is grounded in her communion table theology, where Christ’s unconditional welcome is extended to all.
Rev. Twedell gives leadership to our Congregational Care ministry, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry and global outreach ministries. Since she began serving on the UCC ministerial staff in 1987, she has served in a number of various capacities.
Cyndy literally grew up in the church, as her mother and grandmother were very active in music ministries and behind the scenes leadership. They inspired in her an appreciation for God’s gifts of grace and a confidence in God’s call. Cyndy is a graduate of Texas Christian University and Brite Divinity School and was ordained in 1982 in the church that nurtured her young faith, Central Christian Church of Vernon, Texas.
Cyndy is married to Jack and they are the proud parents of two adult children, Jackie, a pastor serving in Virginia, and Chris, a satellite engineer in California.
