I grew up in Fort Worth, attending Trinity Valley School, from which I graduated in May of 1995 as a 13 year student. I then followed in the footsteps of my “Go Frogs” parents and enrolled in TCU. I graduated from TCU in May of 1999 with a B.S. in Psychology, with an emphasis in early childhood and childhood development. During my course of studies, I had the privilege of working hands on with the administrators at Child Protective Services and the Warm Place. I received invaluable lessons as a result of my time working with the staff, administrators and the populations that they respectively serve. Among my years of professional service, I taught at UCC’s Weekday School for 8 years, and I am currently a PE Teacher in Aledo ISD.
In May of 2001, I married my best friend, Cain. He is also a fellow Frog, where he represented TCU as a track and cross country scholarship athlete. His lifelong competitive running parlayed into a career in the running industry, and his varied work experiences took us to Seattle, Washington and the greater New England area for five years. We returned to Texas in December of 2003, where he is currently employed as a Sales Manager for HOKA One One. Upon our return home, we attended a service at UCC. It was then that we immediately knew we had found our church “home.” Neither of us had been formally raised in church, but the Spirit was working in and among us that day, and we joined the church shortly thereafter. In December of 2005 our first daughter, Savannah Grace “Gracie,” was born. Within 6 months, Cain was baptized in the Sanctuary and Gracie was dedicated on Mother’s Day. Two years later, our second daughter, Sadie Lee, was born, and six months later she was dedicated on Father’s Day. Our girls are now 13 and 11, respectively, and are as comfortable within the halls of UCC as their own home. We have had the joy of raising them in the quiet comforts of the Aledo community since they were born.
Gracie and Sadie have grown up in UCC’s preschool programs and Journey Land rotations; have participated in VBS and Mission VBS; Children’s Choir and Music Maker Camps; the Roots mentoring program, Disciples Class and Youth Ministry; and have found they are happiest when they are attending summer camp or weekend retreats at Camp Disciples in Athens. Cain has served as a Deacon, and faithfully commits his time each Sunday to help usher during service. I have spent the last 13 years serving our church in any capacity that is asked of me. UCC has fed us more than any other life giving source, and I feel very strongly about our continued stewardship—giving of our resources, time and talents. Over the years I have been a member of the Children’s Ministry Committee, the Hospitality Committee, taught on Sundays in both Preschool and Journey Land and have led VBS groups. I am currently a member of the Youth Ministry Committee, the Chair of the Christmas Angels Committee and am serving on my 2nd of 3 years of my second term on the Board of Stewards.
